Mass Intentions
Whether you have something to be thankful for or something to pray for, you can consider doing a mass intention.
Mass intentions can be done online by filling out the form below or you may call 305-361-2351.
Mass intentions that come in after 3pm or on weekends or Holidays, may not be seen on time to be added to the intentions. Please note that if it is a holiday, there may be only one morning mass.
REQUEST A MASS INTENTION
The great Doctor of the Church, St. Anselm, declares that a single Mass offered for oneself during life may be worth more than a thousand celebrated for the same intention after your death.
Masses offered for us during our life can help us obtain the great grace of a happy and holy death. Once we die, they will cancel our debt, whole or in part, of the punishment due for our sins; thus, it may greatly shorten our Purgatory.
The most beautiful gift one can give to another person is a Spiritual Bouquet of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. No material gift can ever compare to or equal the Infinite Value of the Holy Mass.
A Mass Card can be requested to notify someone about Masses offered by emailing amartinez@stagneskb.org or calling 305-361-2351.
In addition to the prayers said just after death, and the prayers of the funeral Mass, it is Catholic practice to have Masses said for the departed on the 3rd, 7th, and 30th days after the death or burial or on the anniversaries of the date of death.
Masses for the dead have infinite value, in the objective order, for the souls of the departed. They also have great subjective value for those who survive in that it is comforting to know that Masses are being offered for one’s departed loved ones.

O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

Nicene Creed / Profession of Faith
I believe in one God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
(Bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man. (End Bow)
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name;

About the Mass
Understanding the Mass
The central act of worship in the Catholic Church is the Mass. It is in the liturgy that the saving death and resurrection of Jesus once for all is made present again in all its fullness and promise – and we are privileged to share in His Body and Blood, fulfilling his command as we proclaim his death and resurrection until He comes again. It is in the liturgy that our communal prayers unite us into the Body of Christ. It is in the liturgy that we most fully live out our Christian faith.
The liturgical celebration is divided into two parts: the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. First, we hear the Word of God proclaimed in the scriptures and respond by singing God’s own Word in the Psalm. Next that Word is broken open in the homily. We respond by professing our faith publicly. Our communal prayers are offered for all the living and the dead in the Creed. Along with the Presider, we offer in our own way, the gifts of bread and wine and are given a share in the Body and Blood of the Lord, broken and poured out for us. We receive the Eucharist, Christ’s real and true presence, and we renew our commitment to Jesus. Finally, we are sent forth to proclaim the Good News!
How to prepare to receive Holy Communion
The Catechism of the Catholic Church offers a brief guide on how to spiritually prepare to receive Jesus in Holy Communion at Mass.
1-EXAMINE YOUR CONSCIENCE
Anyone conscious of a grave sin must receive the sacrament of Reconciliation before coming to communion.
2-APPROACH WITH HUMILITY
"Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul will be healed."
3-OBSERVE THE COMMUNION FAST
A person who is to receive the Most Holy Eucharist is to abstain for at least one hour before holy communion from any food or drink, except for only water and medicine.
4-PREPARE OURSELVES IN BODY AND SPIRIT
Prepare our body, both in what we wear and how we approach Jesus. They should convey the respect, solemnity, and joy of this moment when Christ becomes our guest.
Spiritual Communion
If you are not in a state of Grace, you should not receive Communion until you go to confession. Instead, you may say the Spiritual Communion Prayer
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if you were already there, and I unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
(Saint Alphonsus Liguori)
